Ukuleles

Ukuleles are enjoying a huge revival in popularity - and is it any wonder when it's such a versatile little instrument. In a very short time it is easy for the the absolute beginner to master three or four simple chords which, at a basic level, are all you need to accompany half the songs ever written!

The ukulele is a great instrument on which children can take their first steps in music - and the big advantage is that they can sing along at the same time - which can be a little difficult whilst playing a recorder!

The ukulele looks like a small guitar so it's got "street cred" too! ...and not only does it look like a guitar but the tuning and fingering are very similar which makes the transition to the guitar much easier later on.

But don't get the wrong idea. The uke is not just a toy for kids: In the hands of the accomplished player it is capable of very much more.
